Gabala is a city in the north of Azerbaijan. To the south-west of it is located the village of Chukhur-Gabala with the ruins of the fortress towers. They remind of the glorious past of the city as the capital of the ancient state of Caucasian Albania. On the north-eastern outskirts, on Tufandag mountain, there is a winter-summer resort with ski slopes. Not far from here, in the village of Beyuk-Amili, there is an ancient Albanian church. To the west of the city, in the village of Nij, the ancient people of the Udins live.
